No, you do not need a referral for treatment. However, Texas laws allow physical therapists to treat without a referral for 10 business days. After 10 business days, a referral from a doctor is required to continue treatment. Tivis Dry Needling will assist with all referral needs and actions necessary to acquire one. 

No, dry needling is not the same as acupuncture. Dry needling penetrates muscles and tendons specific to muscle tension/pain patterns and requires fewer needles for relief.

Side effects may include soreness, small bruising, discomfort with insertion, feeling tired hours after treatment, aggravation of symptoms followed by improvement, and feeling faint during treatment.

The number of sessions depends on lifestyle. Typically, 2-6 sessions are required in conjunction with maintaining healthy movements and posture at home.  Occasionally, maintenance sessions are required as needed due to the unpredictability of each day.
